It’s all so pointless! It doesn’t work. I’ve spent three years, from 1999 to 2002, looking for a beach where to drive my landyacht freely, looking up in the map, searching personally. It’s pointless: if the beach is good, there is no wind; if the wind blows, it comes from the sea and eats away the beach. For all that, I come to a conclusion: it is not worth loadind my Miniclub in the car, taking the toll motorway and waiting for a week at Cervia, for example, where there is a long and hard beach, for only a few usable hours.It is much more cheaper and convenient to take a lowcost flight to Bruxelles where it is possible to reach the beach either by train or by car: here you can rent a landyacht for a week at one of the numerous Flemish clubs. With just a bit of experience and some international competitions behind, you can become a member of the greatest club of De Panne, the Royal Sand Yacht Club, and paying a yearly fee (110 E.) you have the landyachts used for the sailing courses at your disposal. The wind doesn’t keep you waiting, the beach is impressive and if you have sometimes thought of sailing from one country to another, you can have the satisfaction of crossing the French border, always hauling the sheet to death, with the wheels creaking on the shells and the taste of salty water in your mouth.
